Weekly Overview
01.01-07.2025
Happy New Year! The first week of transits in 2025 is fittingly very intense. It starts off with the second exact hit of the Mars retrograde opposition to Pluto on January 2nd. This transit is meant to trigger activation in you and everyone around you. Expect power struggles, control issues, resentments, addictive behaviors, and other messy dynamics to take center stage. On episode 491 of my astrology show, Ghost of a Podcast, I go into great depth about this transit, what it’s all about, and how to best navigate it.
By the 6th, Mercury forms an exact square to Neptune, introducing confusion, anxiety and the serious risk for misinformation or disinformation to hit the world or your group chat. Do your best in both cases not to jump to conclusions or make assumptions. Sit with your reactions so that you can be intentional about how you engage with whatever has got you activated. Stay interested, Aries. If you can keep an open and curious mind, you will learn a great deal about yourself and others this week. If you can stay adaptable in your thinking you’ll be able to make use of what you’ve learned. You don’t need to know what to do or what comes next; only strive to understand what is being communicated to you and what is true in the here and now.
You can’t always have consensus, but that doesn’t mean you have to have conflict. This week, you’re likely to feel challenged by being in disagreement—either explicit or implicit—with someone close to you. The question to ask yourself is how you can navigate differences with others without getting defensive, watering down your perspective, and generally being in a fight. Contrast and differences are not an attack on your perspective; strive to learn from them, Taurus.
As you let go of old patterns, habits, and even beliefs that you’ve ultimately already outgrown, you’re likely to feel grief. This can make you feel like you’ve gone sideways somehow or that things are going in the wrong direction, but the truth is that you can grieve that which hurts you just as much as that which holds you up. Don’t confuse feeling sad or bad with things actually being wrong, Twin Star.
Learning to navigate through anxiety is an essential life skill, but not a fun one to practice. This week, what you do and don’t do really matters. If you slip into old patterns that you know better than to participate in, you will find yourself caught up in drama and power struggles. If you can challenge yourself to act in ways that reflect your wisest parts instead of your strongest emotions, you’ll be exactly where you are meant to be, Moonchild.
So much is changing all at once that it may feel hard to keep up. This week, you are being challenged to know yourself well enough to know the best places for you to invest your energy and how to pace yourself through your efforts. If you move too fast you will likely create more overwhelm than clarity; if you move too slowly you may feel bulldozed by other people. Think of not just what you’re doing but how you're navigating through, Leo.
Things are developing, that is certain, but everything else is not. This week is going to test your perfectionism as you are meant to do your best in an imperfect situation. This means that you’re likely to have to come back and adjust things later. You may be wasting time or you may be operating off of less-than-ideal information—that’s life! Do your best with what you’ve got instead of wasting time and energy trying to make your situation more solid than it is, Virgo.
If you’re looking to assign blame as a way to understand how you got here, you’re focused on the wrong things. This week, you may be feeling guilty or resentful, and whether that’s directed at others or yourself, it’s keeping you stuck. Instead of focusing on what isn’t working or what you don’t have, do your best to look for what you do have, your resources, and identify the next steps necessary for you to take. This is one of those times when power struggles will only serve to keep you stuck in place, Libra.
It’s the very things that frustrate you and make you want to throw in the towel that need your care and attention this week. If you haven’t been embodying your boundaries, you’re likely to be really feeling it. The antidote for this is to identify your needs and limits, and then navigate your relationships and circumstances armed with that clarity. You can keep on running into the same old problems, or you can turn the page, Scorpio.
Don’t let your ego get in the way this week. You may find yourself feeling burnt out, defensive, or so turned around that you’re not quite sure what to think. Instead of allowing all that internal chaos to drive you, practice sitting with your emotions, even if it’s uncomfortable. This is a good time to sit with the unknown and the uncomfortable so that you can find your truth and nurture it with clarity, Sagittarius.
It’s hard to know what to believe, think or feel when you’ve not spent enough time truly sitting with yourself. This week, you may be feeling burnt out or somehow disconnected from your own best instincts. The last thing you should do is add more noise and tasks to your plate; instead, strive to sit with yourself, be receptive to your instincts, and allow for uncertainty to be part of the equation, Capricorn.
If you can let go of trying to control your circumstances and even understand other people, you can get to the very important work of accepting where you find yourself, what others are telling you about themselves, and what that sets you up for in the here and now. You don’t need to know what the outcome is going to be in order to navigate the present. Honor your values and be accountable for what you do and why to stay on track, Aquarius.
Talk it out, Pisces. It’s in your best interest to ask questions and really listen to the answers that people give you this week. It might feel really vulnerable to not be more proactive and try to move matters along, but creating space and allowing other people to fill it is a good practice. You may not learn what you want, but the truth—even when it’s a truth you don’t like—empowers you to navigate your options with the most clarity.
